Online professional wine tasting and masterclass at the Hungarian Harvest in Berlin

The Agricultural Marketing Centre in cooperation with the Hungarian Embassy of Germany organized the Hungarian Harvest in Berlin for the tenth time on the 30th of November 2020.

The event, which dates back a decade, has given place to another stage of the Hungarian Wine Business Program. The aim of the wine tasting program combined with masterclass has been to help producers and their wines (equally those that are already present and those that are only yet to appear) to introduce themselves on the German market, to further strengthen their business relations and - as a consequence - to develop their export activities.

Germany is a significant target market for Hungarian wines, and the export volume is constantly growing to the country. This time, Hungarian winemakers had opportunity to introduce themselves to Germany's professional communities and to further promote their wines on the German market. Adapting to the restrictions caused by the pandemic and the recommendations of the authorities, the event was held in the virtual space.
Kristian Kielmayer, DipWSET, instructor and wine professional consultant at the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture, held a professional presentation during which he demonstrated the history and characteristics of Hungarian winemaking.
After Mr. Kielmayer's lecture, through the premium wines of six Hungarian wineries, the audience could get to know the typical wines of five different wine districts of the country. Experts, wine journalists, restaurant owners and wine merchants from the German wine market attended the event by video calling and tasted the line of excellent wines throughout the presentation with the help of pre-delivered wine samples provided by the Agricultural Marketing Centre.
During the tasting of each wine, the winemakers and the representatives of the wineries also joined the online presentation, giving a chance to all attendees to ask questions directly from the producers.

The professional audience was able to acquire more information on the event's official website and also via the pre-sent wine professional publications, thus helping them to find their way around the Hungarian wine market.
