2021.07.21.

The 36-page special supplement to the May issue of Decanter Magazine introduces Hungarian wines and wine culture to consumers around the world. The world`s best-known wine magazine presents Hungarian wines available in the United Kingdom and gives introduction to the most important Hungarian wine regions in terms of export.

The special edition, which is available worldwide, was created under the curation of Zsuzsa Toronyi (Wines of Hungary UK) and the support of Agricultural Marketing Centre (AMC).

Apart from the United Kingdom, which is considered to be one of the most important export markets for Hungarian wines, the special issue's sixty thousand printed copies appear on merchants' shelves both in Europe and in the United States. Articles featuring Hungary's wines will also be displayed in a prominent place for three months on decanter.com website (752,000 readers worldwide) and on the special edition's proprietary website. This can be considered the most intense communication campaign ever in the history of Hungarian wines.

The comprehensive publication includes nearly 150 wines available in export markets, along with many detailed tasting notes, contact information and prices. In addition to the world famous Tokaji Aszú and dry Furmint, the authors present the best dry white, rosé and red wines. Readers can also get acquainted with the wine regions of Tokaj, Eger, Szekszárd and Balaton. The publication demonstrates the history and varietal characteristics of several traditional Hungarian grape varieties such as Hárslevelű, Juhfark, Kéknyelű, Olaszrizling, Kadarka and Kékfrankos. The gastronomic role of Hungarian wines is showcased by food and drink pairings and wine bar and restaurant recommendations in Budapest.

Caroline Gilby - Master of Wine, Oz Clarke OBE, Elizabeth Gabay – Master of Wine, Csaba Harmath - Gastronomic Consultant, Tamás Czinki - Master Sommelier, Gabriella Mészáros - Consultant to AMC and Dániel Ercsey - Wine Expert are among the authors.

AMC supports the export of Hungarian wines with advice, short movies introducing the wine districts, community marketing tools and special campaigns. Besides focusing on one of the most important export markets, the current supplement helps to acquaint international market actors and customers with Hungarian wines beyond the United Kingdom.
